about Jabble

What is Jabble?

Jabble is a safer social network for children. We are a free, fully moderated and responsible alternative to Facebook for 6 - 11 year olds. Jabble has been designed as a simplified social network which aims to educate children in using the internet safely.

How is Jabble safer?

Jabble has been created by parents and teachers with the aim of providing a fun, safer environment for children to learn about using the internet and connect with their friends online. Jabble has been developed with multiple safeguards in place:

In order to register on Jabble, children must have the authorisation of a parent or carer. Every parent has access to Parent Pages which feature full communication logs, custom safety settings and moderation controls. Parents can approve their child's friend requests, turn chat on and off and set time limits for use. There is even an option for additional moderation via email alerts from the Moderation Team.

All content on Jabble is twice moderated. We use Crisp Thinking's sophisticated Netmoderator software which instantly filters any PII (personally identifiable information) or swearing between users. All communication is also reviewed for inappropriate content or behaviour and dealt with by our Moderation Team.

As education is a fundamental component of Jabble we have embedded safety messages across the site to reinforce online safety. Jabble Rules, SAFER Surfing tips and interaction with Jabble himself allows us to instil safety further. Children can even collect rewards for logging out safely.

All staff on the Jabble Team hold CRBs and are parents themselves.

What can my child do on Jabble?

When children register on Jabble they choose a nickname and create a fun avatar of themselves. At Jabble we don't agree with photos which helps keep children safer too.

Once registered, Jabble offers all the features that you would expect from a social network. Children can make friends, send messages, chat, play games and much more.

Make friends

Children can make friends with other children on Jabble if they know that user's nickname. As a parent you have the option to approve and decline your child's friend requests. Children can only communicate with users that they are friends with on Jabble.

Send messages

Children can send messages and ecards to their friends on Jabble. All messages feature options to flag as inappropriate or to block that user should your child see something that they don't like.

As Jabble is friends with all Jabblers, children can send him messages with questions or suggestions and Jabble always writes back.

Children can send instant chat messages to their online friends on Jabble. As with messages, chat features options to flag as inappropriate or to block that user should your child see something that they don't like.

Play games

Jabble features a suite of fun games* and activities to keep your child entertained. Most games have high-score charts and some games can be played against friends.

* Our games have been created with Adobe Flash and do not currently work on iOS devices such as iPhone, iPod touch or iPad.

Add a profile, update their feeling, collect and share rewards, write sticky notes, check the weather, enter competitions.
